چکیده

OLLOWING the extensive analysis of the gene-enzyme relationships of the Ftryptophan pathway in bacteria (YANOFSKY and LENNOX 1959; BLUME and BALBINDER 1966) in Saccharomyces and in Neurospora (BONNER, DE Moss and MILLS 1965), it has become O€ interest to examine the pathway in the homothallic ascomycete Aspergillus nidulans (Eidam) Wint. This paper describes the complementation behaviour of tryptophan mutants, and the following paper by HUTTER and DE Moss (1967) the biochemical lesions and some of the properties of the tryptophan enzymes. At this stage the system in Aspergillus appears very similar, perhaps identical, to that in Neurospora.

P 78: The Role of Kynurenine Pathway in Suicidal Behavior and Depression

According to global statistics, over 80,000 deaths occur by suicide annually. Up to 90% of complete suicides are based on psychiatric disorders specifically major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder. Furthermore high levels of inflammation have been indicated in suicidal patients in both central nervous system and the peripheral blood. Two biological mechanisms that play a key role i...

Metabolic Complementation in Bacterial Communities: Necessary Conditions and Optimality

Bacterial communities may display metabolic complementation, in which different members of the association partially contribute to the same biosynthetic pathway. In this way, the end product of the pathway is synthesized by the community as a whole. However, the emergence and the benefits of such complementation are poorly understood. Herein, we present a simple model to analyze the metabolic i...

Determinism and Contingency Shape Metabolic Complementation in an Endosymbiotic Consortium

Bacterial endosymbionts and their insect hosts establish an intimate metabolic relationship. Bacteria offer a variety of essential nutrients to their hosts, whereas insect cells provide the necessary sources of matter and energy to their tiny metabolic allies. These nutritional complementations sustain themselves on a diversity of metabolite exchanges between the cell host and the reduced yet h...

Arabidopsis cytochrome P450 cyp83B1 mutations activate the tryptophan biosynthetic pathway.

In plants, the tryptophan biosynthetic pathway provides a number of important secondary metabolites including the growth regulator indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and indole glucosinolate defense compounds. Genes encoding tryptophan pathway enzymes are transcriptionally induced by a variety of stress signals, presumably to increase the production of both tryptophan and secondary metabolites during d...

Materials and Metabolites of Kynureinine Pathway in Neurodegenerative Diseases and Multiple Sclerosis

Abstract Background & aim: Kynurenine pathway (KP) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative disorders. In neurodegenerative diseases (NDD) such as Parkinson's disease (PD), Alzheimer's disease (AD), Huntington's disease (HD) and Multiple sclerosis (MS), brain neurons are initially involved and gradually disappear. In the present review article, the ...
